Bank Verification Number (BVN) Enrolment

About BVN

The Bank Verification Number (BVN) is an 11-digit unique identifier introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to verify the identity of every individual who owns or operates a bank account in Nigeria.
Your BVN serves as a universal identity across all Nigerian banks and financial institutions.

Purpose of the BVN

The BVN system was established to:

  • Protect customers against identity theft and banking fraud.

  • Ensure safer, faster, and more reliable banking transactions.

  • Help banks verify the true identity of account holders.

  • Promote transparency and integrity within Nigeria’s financial system.

Why BVN Is Important

  • You cannot open or operate a bank account in Nigeria without a BVN.

  • It links all your bank accounts under one verified identity.

  • It enhances the security of your bank accounts and transactions.

  • BVN is required for most financial and online banking services.
